Tamarindo Beach

Location: Guánica
Getting there: From San Juan, drive 2 hours southwest. You’ll drive south, across the island, then drive west until you get to Guánica. You’ll drive along the coast on the 333 until the road ends. Park on the road and take the short boardwalk trail to the beach. There are two stretches of sand separated by a rocky section.
Things to do: Relax in the shallows – The water is calm and shallow but not particularly clear. Fish – there were a few fisherman casting off of the two rocky sections pictured above.
Heads up: There are other small beaches like this one in the area, so pick whichever appeals to you. When we arrived, there were mosquitoes that immediately attacked us. I took drone videos while fast walking around to avoid them and then quickly landed the drone and jumped in the water to escape. The smaller stretch of sand (pictured to the left) had no debris, unlike the longer stretch of sand (right). But, there were small shore break waves and shallow sea grass that made us opt to go to the less appealing right side.
