Segunda Laguna Maccutto Trail

1/5

Location: Manatí

Getting there: From San Juan, drive approximately 40 minutes west to Manatí. You can start the trail from either side, but to be closer to the spring and cave, use the pin listed above.

General Info: This is a common mountain biking trail, so you might need to make way for riders. You can take a short, mellow hike to a spring, or continue further to a cave. There are sections with shade, but the further you get, the less shade you’ll find on the trail. You can also follow the first fork right and hike to the lagoon, but it’s not one you’d want to swim in. Fishing may be an option here, but look out for caiman.

Heads up: It can get very hot, particularly on the unshaded sections of the trail. There are multiple paths to take, depending on where you want to go. It’s a good idea to show up with your phone charged to be able to use the GPS. When I went, we had trouble finding the spring and ended up needing to search online to find where it is located.

  • Multiple attractions on the trail.
  • Parking is made difficult by city ordinance.
