Santa Beach

Santa Beach
3.5/5

Location: Guánica

Getting there: From San Juan, drive 2 hours southwest. You’ll drive south, across the island, then follow the south coast until you get to the small town of Guánica. You could enter from either side of the beach, but I go to the west side, there is a lot of parking here located next to a large apartment complex. Park around here.

Things to do: Relax in the shallows – This is really the only reason to come to this beach. The water of the Caribbean Sea is noticably warmer than that of the Atlantic side. At Santa Beach, the water is often totally calm and the shallows extend a long way.

Heads up: Most people congregate right next to the entrance as it is closest and there is also a lot of shade right there. There is very limited shade along the beach. This is a beautiful and often overlooked beach. Unfortunately they developed ugly structures all the way up to the sand that really take away from the beauty of the place.

  • A picturesque and unique beach.
  • Hiking with great views nearby.
  • Large amounts of seaweed often wash up on this beach.
  • Very hot.
  • Rough road to get to the beach.
