Puerto Nuevo Beach

Puerto Nuevo Beach
3.5/5

Location: Vega Baja

Getting there: From San Juan, drive 35 minutes west to Vega Baja. You’ll arrive at a large paid parking lot surrounding the beach. It costs $5.00 to park.

Things to do: Relax in the shallows – This beach is uniquely suited for this year round. There is a large protected area like an asymmetrical, shallow pool where people of all ages love to lay in the warm water. It’s fun to explore the different areas  along the rock. Snorkeling – If you walk to the right along what looks similar to a river you can do some snorkeling around the rock. When I went there was a massive school of small baitfish.

Heads up: This beach gets super crowded, so crowded that I would not even bother going on a weekend. There is some shade under a row of palm trees but the shade they creates shifts during the day.

  • A great place for kids to play in safe, shallow water.
  • A really cool natural pool with different areas to relax.
  • Can get extremely crowded.
  • Paid parking.
