Piñones Beach

Piñones Beach, San Juan
1.5/5

Location: Loíza

Getting there: From San Juan, drive 15 minutes east (depending on traffic) to a popular stretch of beach. Park anywhere along the 187. There are some areas where you can park looking out at the beach to claim a spot.

Things to do: Walk the beach – This is a very long beach with pretty constant shore break waves that discourage getting in the water on all but the calmest days. Eat – Piñones is a popular spot for locals to grab food, especially on the weekend. I have heard a few people tell me some of the best food on the island can be found here.

Heads up: There is only one road along this popular coastline so traffic can be crazy, especially on the weekend.

  • Some natural shade.
  • You can find a private-ish spot, even on busy days.
  • Busy on weekends.
  • Rough shore break waves makes it hard or difficult to get in the water.
  • Rocky areas.
