Jaboncillo Beach

Jaboncillo Beach, Guánica
1.5/5

Location: Guánica

Getting there: From San Juan, drive 12 hours southeast crossing the island to a beach on the south coast. Turn down a road with an info plaque beside a gate. The road will lead you to a nice, gravel parking lot.

Things to do: Relax in the shallows – There was seaweed when we went but this is a nice, calm spot that would be great on a day without so much debris on the shore and in the shallows.

Heads up: This beach and the surrounding grounds are well maintained. The plants are kept in check and the parking lot looks newly redone. Because this beach is managed by some government-affiliated entity (not sure which one), it also opens and closes on a schedule. We were asked to leave at 5:00pm, after which they lock the gates.

  • Some natural shade.
  • A semi-protected shore makes for calm water.
  • Well maintained.
  • Closes before sunset.
