Chorro de
Doña Juana
Location: Orocovis
Getting there: From San Juan, drive 1 hour 45 minutes to the interior of the island in the Toro Negro State Forest. You’ll find this majestic waterfall right off the side of the road. The road turns into a bridge to go over the stream just out of view of the photo. Park on the road near a restaurant and gift shop. Sit on the bridge, or scramble down the rocks below the bridge to get to the pool at the foot of the waterfall.
Things to do: Take it in – Most people that come to this waterfall won’t get in the water. They’ll sit on the rocks or on the bridge and take in the natural beauty of the location, and usually don’t stay long. Get in the water – The water is cold, but you can absolutely get in the water and I highly recommend it. It’ll make you feel alive! The water is shallow around the bank but the bottom is rocky, so sandals are recommended. You can swim to the waterfall, or to the rock just to the left of it to sit next to the cascading torrent of water.
Heads up: There is very limited parking here, so take any spot you find as you approach. I parked next to the restaurant and got a beef empanada on the way out which was very good.
