Buyé Beach

Buye Beach, Cabo Rojo
3.5/5

Location: Cabo Rojo

Getting there: From San Juan, drive 2 hours 15 minutes southwest. You’ll drive south, across the island, then drive west until you get to the west coast. You’ll pass through the historic town of San Germán on the way. Park on the road around here and walk down the sidewalk between properties that leads to the beach. They say that the farther you walk down the beach, the better it gets.

Things to do: Relax in the shallows – The water is nearly always calm here, but I have never seen it particularly clear. Eat – There is a restaurant right next to the beach where you can buy something to eat or drink.

Heads up: I think this beach is overrated and have never seen it the way that it appears on social media. The parking is always packed and the pathway to get to the beach is not obvious so if it is your first time and you cannot figure out where to go, ask someone.

  • Plenty of natural shade.
  • Calm, shallow water.
  • Nearly always crowded.
  • Overhyped.
