Getting there: From San Juan, drive 45 minutes east to Luquillo. I am not totally sure where the best place to park is located. You can park at the nearby stores and walk from any parking spot you can find down the road to the water. There may be better spots available that I am unaware of.

Things to do: Relax in the shallows – the water may be calm enough to hang out in the shallow in the calmer summer months. Body surf – In the transition months of the spring and fall you may be able to find some rideable waves before they become to big. Walk the beach – this is a great walking beach as it is long and continues around the point pictured above.

Heads up: If there is parking close by, I have not found it. The waves are too large to get in the water in the winter months.

Pros

Plenty of natural shade, though not close to the water.
A great walking beach.

Cons

Getting there requires a walk.
The shore break waves are too rough to get in the water in the winter.
