We had previously packed personal items with all our heavy stuff because there is a 10kg checked bag limit and a 7kg carry-on limit. By an unlikely stroke of luck, each of our checked bags weighed 9kg. We hadn\u2019t bought a keychain or anything in Malaysia, so we got one in the airport, just like we had done in Labuan Bajo. We departed Penang to return to where we started our Asia trip &#8211; Thailand.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We arrived in Phuket and found that the price of a Grab was super expensive. So, we found a bus going into town instead and managed to hop on a few minutes before they left. The bus ride took twice as long as a Grab would have &#8211; 2 hours. We checked into our hotel after taking out some money at a nearby ATM.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section On the way, I got a ham\/cheese toasty and spicy salmon onigiri from 7\/11. The surf was pretty rough, so I didn&#8217;t stay in the water for long. I let my sun shirt and towel dry on some bushes while I laid on my towel. There were a couple of surfers in the water and a handful of other beachgoers sharing the shade near the entrance to the beach. By day, lush, green mountains are visible extending from a small valley. A river cuts a path between the mountains; a short ride on my moped can take me to a spot in the river where a 6 ft waterfall flows into a round pool where green herons fish and locals cool off. By night, a giant white cross on the hill just below us lights up, on Wednesday\u2019s the sound of the church\u2019s hymns makes its way to our porch. The night comes alive with the sound of frogs and insects and the occasional Puerto Rican screech owl. House geckos crawl around the house\u2019s exterior to hunt bugs drawn by the light. I feel lucky every day to live here and do my best to never take it for granted. We love exploring the island and since moving here, have done and seen a lot. My google maps is a messy mix of pins, many are pins of where I want to visit, and dozens more are favorite spots I have saved, from beaches, to hikes, to restaurants, to cultural sites, and more. Puerto Rico is a big island and there is so much to do. We have played the part of tour guide for friends and family on numerous occasions. I like to plan everything, which means a detailed itinerary crafted for every visit.
