Ubicaci\u00f3n<\/span> Patillas<\/a><\/p>

Llegar all\u00ed:\u00a0<\/span>From San Juan, drive 1 hour and 15 minutes south to Carite State Forest. The drive is beautiful and winding. There is a parking lot on the side of the road aqu\u00ed<\/a> for Charco Azul<\/a>. You can also park on the left side of the road aqu\u00ed<\/a> to be closer to the trailhead. Hop over the metal guardrails and look for the trailhead aqu\u00ed<\/a>. There are no signs or useful landmarks other than it’s close to where the road curves. The hike is muddy and slippery. I attempted to stay out of the mud but eventually gave in and slogged through the mud both ways. Plan for around 20 – 30 minutes each way depending on the conditions and your speed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Cosas para hacer:<\/span> Get in the water – There are three accessible pools where you can cool off in the water. A large pool next to the trail, and the two infinity pools. <\/span>Bird watching –<\/span> Birders have a chance to see various endemic birds along the trail. We heard five or six and spotted a Puerto Rican Toady from the road. Forage – There are wild raspberries and edible flowers for those who can safely identify them. Canyoneering – I don’t personally know of a company that will take you down this waterfall, but I’d love to do it! With my drone I could see that a series of waterfalls continue on and on. There is a set of anchors at the infinity pool to rappel down.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Aviso:<\/span> There are two “infinity pools”. One has a rock barrier and a more gentle flow, the other has no barrier and a stronger current. You can get in both if you are safe, but the pool on the right is the safer choice. Be on the lookout for flash floods, if you notice any change to the water volume or color, get out! It started raining hard after we had chilled in the pool for a while, so we got out just to be safe. Be careful walking on the rocks, they are slippery.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
